The Ultimate Packing List for Your Next (or First!) Travel Nursing Job
Traveling and exploring new locations is one of the biggest perks of travel nursing. You’re probably eager to start your trip and check off your bucket list of places to explore, but before you can do that you have one important task you need to finish: your packing.
In the spirit of checking things off, we’ve put together a checklist to help you make sure you’re fully prepared for taking full advantage of your next travel assignment.
Pre-Checklist: Get Prepared and Do Your Research
Before you can know exactly what to pack, you need to know exactly what you’re packing for! First, do a bit of cursory research to help inform what needs to go in your suitcase.
✔️ Research Your Housing
Your housing should already include some basics like a bed, dresser, dining table, chairs, sofa and lamps. But it’s likely that you will be expected to bring things like linens, towels and kitchenware.
✔️ Research the Climate in That Area
Make sure you have at least a general idea of what the weather looks like in the area you are traveling to during that time of year. If it’s often rainy, you’ll want to make sure you have the proper gear. If it’s going to be snowy, you’ll want to be prepared to keep warm.
✔️ Figure Out What Activities You’ll Want To Do
If you’re heading down to Florida, you’ll likely want to spend some time on the beach! Or if Colorado is your destination, skiing or hiking might be on the roster. Having a list of activities you plan to indulge in will help you know if you need a bathing suit, or hiking boots, or maybe even both!
